Recovery Through Faith

The Most Comforting Thing You’ll Read Today

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. – Hebrews 13:8

How many people do you know who love you just as much on your good days as your bad days? Who you can always depend on when you need help? Are they trustworthy? When they say they’re going to do something, do they follow through? Do they always keep their promises? Are they always truthful with you? When you wrong them in some way – do they hold it over your head or do they forgive you?

I once had a boss whose mood was totally unpredictable. One day he would be super nice, and the next day everyone was walking on eggshells around him. That drove me crazy!

But the truth is that we’re all bound to let each other down at some point. We’re flawed, and sometimes we’re pretty selfish too. Sometimes we struggle to let things go, so we hold grudges. We can be prideful and judgmental that way. Some days we have tons of patience, and other days, well… not so much.

But do you ever stop and think about how Jesus is none of those things? How He loves you just as much on your worst day as your best day? How He’s always honest with you? That He never abandons you? That you can depend on Him to keep His promises and do what He says? How patient and forgiving He is? That there’s no wrong you could do to Him that He hasn’t already forgiven you for? What a Friend! What a Savior!!!

We change. Our tastes change. Our circumstances change. Our confidence changes. Our moods change. Our perception of things change. We change friends, schools, jobs, churches… everything within and around us is always shifting, always moving.

But not Christ. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

When everything around you feels uncertain, you can come back to this truth: Jesus Christ is unchanging. And because He is unchanging, you can trust Him with your life.
