Recovery Through Faith

The Journey Can Feel Lonesome Sometimes

Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race. – Psalm 12:1

The exact context of Psalm 12 is uncertain, as it could’ve been written during any number of moments in David’s life. But it’s evident that David felt isolated, surrounded by untrustworthy people.

Maybe you have experienced this too… perhaps betrayed by someone you trusted, or just weary of seeing society celebrate its worst traits as shining virtues.

Yet, God calls us to live out our faith in these challenging settings. Jesus Himself warned that His followers would face a hostile world. It’s tempting for us to retreat into a safe, insulated existence. But Scripture tells us to engage with the world without becoming a part of it, and to bring the healing truth of the Gospel to a broken society. So let us not hide in caves and hillsides like hunted prey. Instead, let’s boldly step into the world, proclaiming the truth of Jesus Christ.

This world isn’t our home, but it is our mission field. And though we may feel outnumbered at times, we are never truly alone!
