And [Jesus] said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a desolate place by themselves.
– Mark 6: 31-32
Well… after several years of not having a real vacation with Mrs. FormerBlackoutArtist, the day has finally come. Tomorrow morning we will arrive in Rome. Tomorrow afternoon we hope to visit the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, and the Mamertine Prison (where the apostles Paul and Peter were imprisoned).
The following morning we will be boarding the Norwegian cruise liner Viva, which just returned to port in Rome after its first ever maiden voyage (Hopefully the crew will have worked out any kinks with the first voyage in the new ship).

From Rome, we will set sail for Naples (Aug 27), then onto Palermo (Aug 28), then to Siracusa, Sicily (Aug 29). Then it’s onto Corfu, Greece (Aug 30), Split, Croatia (Aug 31), then onto Venice (Sept 1). Then we will be into the last leg of our journey, which takes us to Zadar, Croatia (Sept 2) followed by Koper, Slovenia (Sept 3).
I will check in from time to time, maybe upload a few pics and experiences. I’m hoping to take a little time each evening putting together some trivial thoughts about the places and different cultures we visit. I’m not accustomed to using the WordPress App, but hopefully I can navigate it well enough to share a few thoughts along our journey.
In the meantime, I pray that the Lord blesses you and your families and keeps you all safe and happy!
Arrivederci, Doviđenja, Nasvidenje, Antio!
