“Just as I swore in the time of Noah that I would never again let a flood cover the earth, so now I swear that I will never again be angry and punish you.” – Isaiah 54:9
Today on our way back to the cruise ship, God decided to put on a show. Out of nowhere, the sky cracked open just enough to let the sun spill through the rain—and there it was, a perfect rainbow stretching across the clouds. My wife spotted it first. She pointed up at it, grinning… the kind of joy that makes you stop and breathe for a second. And I definitely needed a breather! I’ve not walked this much in years! 🥴

It made me think—sometimes we have to walk through a little rain to see the beauty God’s been preparing all along. The rainbow didn’t come before the storm; it came because of it. He took something gray and unpleasant and turned it into something breathtaking.
In Isaiah 54:9, God reminds His people of His promise to Noah—that He’d never again flood the earth in judgment. It’s like He’s saying, “See, I keep my promises. But because you are quick to forget that, here’s a reminder.” The storms we go through aren’t signs that He’s angry… they’re often just part of the process of seeing His faithfulness in new ways.
So when the sky looks grey and the rain won’t quit, keep looking up for the reminder. The rain may fall, but He also showers us with His abundant mercy and love.
