“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Romans 5:1
I don’t know about you, but I can’t ever remember a time in my life when I considered God an enemy. But according to Scripture, that’s what our sin made us – enemies of God.
Paul’s words above – they describe a miracle: The hostilities have ended, the payment for sin has been satisfied, and peace has been accomplished. And not because we surrendered, but because Jesus stood where we should have fallen. The peace we now have with God isn’t a truce – it’s reconciliation. The Judge has declared us righteous! The Father has adopted us! The war is not just paused – it’s permanently over. And the battlefield has become a place of His amazing grace.
Peace with God doesn’t come just from avoiding conflict with Him. It comes from being reconciled to Him.
So when shame whispers that God is still angry, remember this: the cross was not a cease-fire; it was victory! The war is over. You are no longer God’s enemy – you are His beloved.
