This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength. – 1 Corinthians 1:25
The message of the cross has always sounded foolish to those who don’t believe. Death looks like defeat… weakness looks like failure. And yet, the very thing that appeared to be the greatest loss – Jesus dying on the cross – was actually the greatest victory. Why? Because Jesus didn’t stay dead. He rose again, proving His power over sin and death.
Many still stumble over this simple truth. They want something more complicated, something that feels like they’ve earned it – being good enough, giving enough, or serving enough. From a worldly standpoint, that sounds like wisdom, doesn’t it? But the Bible tells us that in the end, it’s not enough. It cannot save. Eternal life is found in Christ alone.
The world may call it foolishness, but those who put their trust in Jesus are actually the wisest of all. They see things from an eternal perspective. They’re willing to let go of the things they can never keep, for the one thing they can never lose – eternal life. So they cling to the only One who can give them that – Jesus Christ!
This is why Jesus often pointed us to children as examples of faith. A child isn’t afraid to trust. A child depends fully on their parent. No pride, no self-reliance. Just simple, plain ol’ trust. That’s the kind of faith God calls us to – childlike faith in Christ.
