We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. – 2 Corinthians 10:5
As I reflect on 2 Corinthians 10:5 this morning, I’m reminded that Godly living isn’t just about my actions; it begins in my mind. And if I truly want to walk closely with Jesus, I must surrender my thoughts to Him. But that’s not easy – it takes a lot of discipline. Paul refers to the mind as a battlefield. And the enemy doesn’t always attack with blatant sin… sometimes he’s subtle. He slips in these thoughts, these arguments, these lofty ideas that challenge God’s truth. But thankfully it’s winnable. The Holy Spirit lives in me, giving me the strength and the power to fight this battle. And when I fill my mind with Scripture, it’s like I’m arming myself with a sword so I can cut down the lies.
How about joining me in this battle, just for today. Let’s commit to taking every thought captive, examining it in the light of God’s truth, and letting Christ reign over our minds. I bet if we do this, we’ll find peace, clarity, and a deeper walk with our Savior.
