I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. – Romans 8:18
The apostle Paul knew a thing or two about pain. Before meeting Christ, he dished out suffering as Saul, persecuting believers. Then later, as a follower of Jesus, he endured beatings, imprisonment, and enormous hardship for the sake of the gospel. In fact, Jesus Himself told Ananias in Acts 9:16 that Paul would suffer greatly for His name. And he did. Yet, Paul never lost sight of the bigger picture.
In Romans 8:18, Paul reminds us that no matter how heavy our trials feel today, they pale in comparison to the glory waiting for us in eternity. He wasn’t trying to downplay suffering… he knew it was real and raw. But he also knew that God’s promise of eternal joy, where we’ll fully experience His presence and glory, far outweighs any temporary pain.
Friend, whatever you’re facing – whether it’s loss, sickness, or heartache – hold fast to this truth: your suffering has an expiration date, but God’s glory in you is eternal. Let this hope carry you through whatever it is you’re dealing with. Trust that God is weaving a story of redemption that will one day shine brighter than you can imagine.
