Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. – Colossians 3:2
Not everything earthly is evil. Many aspects of our daily lives, things like our work, our relationships, and even our hobbies can be good and God-honoring. Yet, even the harmless things can become harmful when they overshadow what truly matters: our relationship with God and His eternal purposes.
When we set our hearts on things above, we align our desires with God’s kingdom… His love, His justice, and His glory. Setting our minds on things above means filtering every thought, decision, and priority through the lens of eternity. It’s a call to live intentionally, ensuring that the good things in life don’t crowd out the best thing: knowing and following Christ.
Today, take a moment to reflect on what occupies your heart and mind the most. Are there earthly things that have taken a higher place than they should? If so, ask God to help you reprioritize your life so that they don’t become stumbling blocks in your relationship with Him, and allow Him to guide your choices and provide you clarity and purpose.
Earthly things may sparkle, but only the things above bring true peace and lasting joy. Fix your gaze on Christ today, and let His eternal hope shape your life.
