Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. – Galatians 6:9
Do you ever feel like you’re pouring out every ounce of kindness, patience, and love that you have, and feel like it’s barely making a dent? Yet you smile through the frustration, you help even when you’re exhausted, and you continue to choose forgiveness when holding a grudge would seem much more satisfying. But nothing seems to change. The world keeps spinning, people stay distracted, and we’re left wondering, “Is this even worth it?”
We all go through some variation of those moments. But in Galatians 6:9, God encourages us. “Don’t give up, my son. I see you.”
Every time we choose to do good, we plant a tiny seed in God’s garden. We may not see it bloom – maybe not today, maybe not ever – but we are to trust that God is nurturing it. Our job isn’t to force the harvest; it’s to keep showing up, day after day, and to keep loving and obeying. And the wonderful truth is that God promises us that our efforts, small as they may seem, are part of His bigger plan. They’re never wasted. They’re going for His glory, and that’s enough to keep us going.
So if you feel worn out or unnoticed, take a moment today to pause and breathe. Ask God to refill your heart with His strength and to remind you that He’s working through you to do good things. And not because of a futile attempt to somehow earn our salvation… but because we’re thankful for what Christ has achieved for us through his death on the cross.
Prayer: Lord, You know how tired I get, how easy it is to wonder if my efforts matter. Thank You for seeing every single thing I do for You. When I’m ready to quit, lift me up. Help me to keep planting seeds of love and kindness, trusting You for the harvest. Let it all be for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
