No Pulpit or Title Needed

Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. – Acts 8:4

The early believers in Jerusalem faced a storm of persecution after Stephen’s martyrdom. But instead of silencing the gospel, this hardship became the gust that carried the message of Jesus far beyond the city’s walls. Like seed tossed into the wind, the faith of these “accidental missionaries” took root wherever they landed. They weren’t trained preachers or polished evangelists… just ordinary people who couldn’t help but share the hope they’d found in Christ.

Jesus had called His followers to take the gospel to Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8), but it took persecution to push them out of their comfort zone. What seemed like a tremendous setback was God’s way of scattering His message to new places. The opposition meant to crush them only amplified their witness.

We, too, are like those early Christians. We don’t need a pulpit or a title to share Jesus. Our everyday conversations, acts of kindness, and moments of courage can plant seeds of faith in the hearts of those around us. Most people don’t meet Jesus through a professional minister – they meet Jesus through ordinary, everyday people like you and me, sharing what He’s done in our lives.

Today, embrace your role as an “accidental missionary.” Look for opportunities to speak of Jesus’ love and grace, trusting that your words, like seeds in the wind, will take root in ways you may never see. God can use even the most routine moments in our lives to spread His kingdom.

Today’s Reflection:

Where might God be calling you to share His love to someone else?
