Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” – Numbers 13:30
You know that moment when you’re staring at something big – maybe a dream, a challenge, or a step you know God’s nudging you toward – and it feels impossible? That’s where the Israelites were in Numbers 13. Twelve guys had just spent forty days checking out the Promised Land. It was amazing… think about fruit so big that it took two people to carry! But it also had huge cities, tough enemies, and yeah… some literal giants. Ten of the spies came back spooked, saying, “No way, they’ll kill us.” But Caleb and Joshua saw it differently. Caleb steps us, hushes the crowd, and basically says, “Guys, let’s do this. We can totally take it!”

I love Caleb’s courage. He’s not pretending the giants aren’t real. He sees the same scary stuff everyone else does. But instead of focusing on what could go wrong, he’s locked in on God’s promise. He knows the same God who got them out of Egypt and fed them in the desert isn’t going to leave them high and dry now. Caleb and Joshua aren’t just talkers – they’re doers; they’re ready to trust God and take the risk. They’re men of action.
So many people listen to fear and let the what ifs take over. But God calls us to be brave, to lean on Him and step out even when our knees are knocking. If we don’t take a few risks in life, how can we grow in our faith and trust in the Lord?!
What’s your land of giants right now – that thing God’s whispering for you to go after? Courage doesn’t mean we don’t get scared. It means we move forward anyway, holding tight to God. Caleb’s words should inspire us to stand up and say, “Okay, God.. I’ve got this, because You’ve got me.”
