“May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”
– Ruth 2:12
Ruth had every reason to give up. A foreigner in a strange land, widowed and poor, she could have chosen an easier path for sure. But instead, she chose faithfulness – to Naomi, to God’s people, and ultimately, to God Himself.
Boaz recognized her faith and spoke a blessing over her: that God would reward her for seeking refuge under His protective care. But what Ruth couldn’t have known was just how great that reward would be. Through God’s providence, she not only found security and blessing in the moment, but she became part of something far greater – she would become the great-grandmother of King David and, ultimately, a part of the lineage of Jesus Christ.
Ruth’s story isn’t just about God’s provision for one woman; it’s about His plan to bring salvation to the world! What seemed like a small act of faithfulness – choosing to follow Naomi and trust in God – was woven into the greatest redemption story of all time!
Though we don’t see it, God is still working in this way today. When we take refuge in Him, He doesn’t just provide for our immediate needs – He weaves our lives into His greater purpose. Like Ruth, we may not see the full picture, but we can trust that He is always at work, writing a story of hope and redemption.
Today’s Prayer: Lord, thank You for being my refuge and for weaving my life into Your greater plan. Help me trust You even when I don’t see the full picture. Use my faithfulness for Your glory, just as You did with Ruth. Amen.
