God’s Faithful Presence

The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground. And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the Lord. The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word.” – 1 Samuel 3: 19-21

Samuel lived in a time of spiritual drought. God’s voice was rare, visions were uncommon, and the people were disconnected from their Creator. Yet, in the quiet of the temple, God called a young boy – Samuel – to restore that broken connection.

God didn’t just call Samuel once and leave him to figure things out alone. No, the passage highlights the Lord’s tender care in shaping him. “The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up.” God guided his development, ensuring that his words carried divine authority: “He let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground.” And perhaps most beautifully, “The Lord continued to reveal himself to Samuel through his word.”

Loved one, God’s presence is not a one-time encounter. It’s a continual, faithful work. Just as He walked with Samuel, God walks with us, nurturing, guiding, and speaking through His Word. When we seek Him with all our hearts, He reveals Himself.

Are you longing to hear from God, dear Christian? Has the conversation between you and the Lord grown silent? Do you long for spiritual reconnection and refreshment? I would encourage you to pick up your Bible and read His holy Word! It is there that we learn His character, His righteousness, His perfect plan for us, and His loving nature.

And yet at the same time, God doesn’t desire a one-sided conversation. He invites us to meet Him throughout the day so that we can share our thoughts and desires with Him. It is through prayer that we offer our praises of thanksgiving, and also share our troubles and concerns. Just as any father longs to spend time with his children, so does our Heavenly Father long to spend time with us.
