“You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, ‘He did not make me’; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, ‘He has no understanding‘?” – Isaiah 29:16 (ESV)
The people of Judah had a major problem: outwardly they honored God, but their hearts were far from Him. They relied on their own wisdom, making plans without seeking Him. They thought they could control their future, forgetting that God was the true Potter shaping their lives.
How often do we do the same? We question God’s ways, we resist His guidance, or think we know better. But Isaiah 29:16 reminds us that we are the clay, not the Potter. It’s not our place to reshape God’s plans – it’s our place to trust His hands.
If life feels uncertain, remember that God sees the full picture. His wisdom is far greater than ours, and His purposes are always good. Instead of resisting, surrender fully to Him. He is forming you into something beautiful!
Today’s Prayer: Lord, forgive me when I resist Your shaping. Help me trust that You, the Potter, know exactly what You’re doing. I surrender my life into Your wonderful hands to be formed by You and for You. Amen.
