Seeing Our Work as Worship

Do you sometimes feel like nobody cares about all the work you do? Ever feel unnoticed and unappreciated?

It’s tough, isn’t it? You work hard, whether it’s at your job, in your family, or even in serving others, and sometimes it feels like no one even notices. Maybe you’ve thought, “Why am I putting in all this effort when no one seems to care?”

But Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us of something powerful:

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.”

These verses flip the script on how we see our work. It’s God saying, “You’re not really doing it for them; you’re doing it for Me.”

It’s more than just showing up. It’s our attitude, it’s what’s inside our heart – even when it feels like no one notices. God sees you. He’s paying attention to every little thing, even the stuff others overlook.

Think about it this way: all the effort you pour into your work, your family, and growing in your daily walk with Jesus – it’s not wasted. It matters to God. When you show patience in a tough situation or stay committed to doing the right thing even when it’s hard, that’s you living out this verse! It’s worship!

Sure, we all like to feel appreciated by others, but their recognition isn’t the be-all and end-all. God promises an eternal reward, one that is far greater than anything this world has to offer. Why? Because we’re doing it in service to Christ. He gave everything for you and me, He’s the Master we’re ultimately serving.

So when you’re feeling unnoticed or unappreciated, take a moment to remember who you’re really working for. Whisper a prayer: Lord, help me see my work as worship. Remind me that You see me, even when no one else does.

Today, as you go about your tasks – whether big or small – ask yourself: If I were doing this specifically for Jesus, how would I do it? Because ultimately you are. And that mindset changes everything.
