Investing in Others

Just as a nursing mother cares for her children, so we cared for you. Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well. – 1 Thessalonians 2: 7b-8

When Paul wrote these wonderful words, he wasn’t just talking about teaching theology or leading formal Bible studies. He was describing a life-on-life connection – a deep, sacrificial love that nurtures others as a mother nurtures her child. This love goes beyond church programs or lessons; it involves sharing the joys, struggles, and rhythms of daily life.

As believers, we are called to do the same. Welcoming someone into God’s family means more than pointing them to Sunday morning service. It’s inviting them into our homes, sharing meals, listening to their stories, and walking with them through life’s highs and lows. It’s being available, authentic, and invested.

The challenge for us today is to step beyond structured church activities and ask, “How can I share my life with others?” Whether it’s inviting a new believer for coffee, mentoring them through everyday struggles, or simply being a consistent presence, these acts of love and care reflect the heart of Christ.

When we share not only the gospel but also our lives, we help others see the tangible love of Jesus. And in doing so, we grow closer to Him ourselves.

Today’s prayer: Lord, thank You for welcoming us into Your family with open arms. Help us to love others with that same care and intentionality. Give us the courage to step beyond comfort zones and share not just Your truth but our lives as well. Amen.
