Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
I have an awful lot to be thankful for.
I was reminded of this last night as I went to start the dishwasher. I pushed the button, but nothing happened. The LED panel wouldn’t come on, no signs of life whatsoever. I spent the following 30 minutes trying to somehow figure out what was going on… checked the breaker, it hadn’t been tripped. I pushed the buttons, lightly tapped the panel, opened the door and looked inside… nothing.
“Well, this is just perfect. Now we’ll have to wash every single kitchen item we use tomorrow by hand. So much for this being a smooth and relaxing Thanksgiving Day!”
Luckily, I remembered a guy who repaired our refrigerator over the past year. I left him a message on his voicemail, and this was at 9:30 pm last night. I wasn’t anticipating him getting back to me, but wanted to get my name on the list for him to come out after the holiday to check it out. Five minutes later, I get the following text message from him: “Have you tried turning off the breaker for two minutes and then turning it back on? Sometimes that’s all that is needed – to reset itself.”
Presto! It came back on! And just like that my nightmare scenario had ended.
Even the small things, God takes care of for me. The things I never give a second thought – things both great and small, things both known and unknown. The Lord is so, so good to me in so many ways!
So I end this post with the way I started.
I have so much to be thankful for.
And I’m thankful for all of you who take the time to read my musings here, also! May each of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and may your dishwashers be strong for the cleaning that awaits!
