From Enemies to Family

“That day Herod and Pilate became friends – before this they had been enemies.” – Luke 23:12

It’s striking that the trial and crucifixion of Jesus became the event that turned Herod and Pilate, former enemies, into allies. They came together over their shared role in condemning an innocent man. It’s interesting how common goals – good or bad – have a way of bringing people together.

And yet for us, Jesus’ sacrifice did something far greater. Before He died for us, we were separated from God, even considered His enemies because of our sin. But when Jesus shed his blood on the cross, everything changed. He bridged the gap, offering reconciliation. And not just friendship – but adoption. We were given the chance to become sons and daughters of God!

Dear Christian, when was the last time you prayed and sincerely thanked Jesus for the price He paid to bring you into God’s family? Today, let us join in with the Psalmist when he says: Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. Psalm 95:1-3

Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.
