Have you ever made a decision that seemed perfectly reasonable at the time, only to later discover it led you down the wrong path? Proverbs 14:12 warns us about this very thing – a way that appears right but leads to destruction. It’s a sobering reminder that our judgment isn’t always reliable.
When we rely exclusively on our own understanding, we ignore the fact that we’re operating with a very limited perspective. What we see and what we feel tempts us to justify many of our decisions – decisions we’ve made based on our preferences, desires, and sometimes on what the world says is acceptable. But God’s wisdom far exceeds our human logic.
The Bible calls us to walk in humility and depend on God’s guidance. The “right” path isn’t always the easy or obvious one, but it’s one rooted in God’s truth and wisdom. That’s why it’s so important for us to seek His direction in prayer and through Scripture, even when something feels right to us.
Today, let us take a moment of pause and ask, “Is this truly God’s way, or just what seems right to me?” Invite God into your decisions, big and small, trusting that He knows the way that leads to life.
