Finding Hidden Treasure

I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
– Ps. 119:10-11

Reading these passages challenges me to think about whether I’m truly giving God my everything. They cause me to consider if I’m truly pursuing Him in every part of my life, or if maybe there are areas where I’m holding back. I’ve come to realize that seeking Him takes more than just a casual effort! It requires intentionality and commitment on my part. And yet, even with my best efforts, I know how easy it is for me to wander off course. That’s why the psalmist’s plea, “do not let me stray from your commands,” resonates so much with me. It reminds me that I need God’s guidance every step of the way in life, that I can’t do it alone.

I don’t know about you, but my life is full of ups and downs, full of distractions and mixed messages. Sometimes it’s really hard to keep focused on what’s important. But when I root myself in God’s Word, I find the stability I crave. I find clarity and purpose. And I desperately want to protect that! It’s invaluable to me! Not only does it help with avoiding sin, but it helps me stay connected to God’s will for my life.

Today’s Prayer: God, help me to seek you with all that I am. I’m prone to wandering, Lord, so I ask you to guide me back when I stray from your path. Let your word take root in my heart so that it can shape my thoughts and actions, as I try to live in a way that honors you. Amen.
