The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness! – Lamentations 3:22-23
Most of us wake up each morning with thoughts of what awaits us for the day ahead. The first order of business is getting a cup of coffee. Then it’s getting the kids up, getting them fed, and getting them ready for school. Then we get in the shower, get dressed, and get in our cars and fight the morning traffic to get to work.
All of this getting greatly distracts us from what we have been given.
Growing up, I never once doubted my mother’s love for me. Despite how much I might’ve misbehaved or disappointed her the day before, no matter how difficult I might’ve made her life, the following morning it was as though it never happened. Her love and mercy greeted me at the beginning of each and every day.
If my mother loved and cared about me that much, then how could I possibly fathom my Heavenly Father’s love for me?
A love that never ceases, new mercies extended each and every morning… the deposits God makes into our accounts are issued with an assurance that not only can they never be overdrawn, but they are replenished at the coming of each new sunrise.
So before getting consumed with all we have to get done today, let us take a few moments to reflect and be thankful for the love and new mercies God has given us.
Surely His love and mercy is proof of His faithfulness!
