Do You Ever Feel Forgotten?

“The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.”
– Gen. 40:23

Do you sometimes go through periods in your life where you feel unappreciated, perhaps even unnoticed? Like everything you do seems to matter to no one? Maybe sometimes even wondering if perhaps even God has completely forgotten about you?

Maybe you’re going through this currently and you feel like just throwing in the towel altogether.

Can I encourage you today by reminding you that God knows where you are and what you’re dealing with? Because He does. He sees your effort when no one else is paying attention. He knows all about what you do behind the scenes that often goes unnoticed. He sees the kindness, the patience, and the concern for others. He sees it when you tuck a few extra dollars into the tip basket at the local bakery. He notices it when you drop off food at the local food bank. He’s smiling when He sees you helping an elderly lady load groceries in the trunk of her car. You please him when you give someone a lift to a doctor’s appointment. Even in the faithful monotony of your job, He’s there. He see’s it.

Nothing you do goes unnoticed by our Lord.

Joseph spent two years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Day after day he kept waiting for someone to return a favor for him by putting in a good word to get him released. That guy forgot all about him.

But after those two years, Joseph’s life would change in ways he would never have fathomed. He went from a cell in the prison to his own room in the palace, becoming King Pharaoh’s second-in-command. God never forgot about Joseph.

And He hasn’t forgotten about you.

So let that encourage you today as you continue faithfully serving our Lord. He sees you, He knows you, and He loves you. You matter to Him!
