Put God in Charge of Your Planning Committee

“Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”
Proverbs 3:6 NLT

Solomon tells us in the text above that if we are to know which path to take, we are to seek God’s will in all that we do; to turn every area of our life over to him. He then goes on to give us the reason why in Proverbs 14:12: “There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.” In other words, we shouldn’t merely trust our own gut instincts, because our natural human desires are often completely contrary to what God desires of us and for us.

Solomon’s instruction was repeated by none other than Jesus himself approximately a thousand years later: “For the pagans run after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:32-33, NIV)

What areas of our lives are we hesitant to turn over to God today to receive His full blessing? What has He given us that, in turn, we are unwilling to entrust Him with?

We’re either trusting Him completely, or we’re not. We can’t say to Him, “God, I trust you with protecting my children when they go to school. But with my career? With my money? My way is better.” But sometimes that’s precisely our attitude.

God wants to be a vital part of every aspect of our lives. He wants us to consult with Him on a regular basis. He wants to be included in our planning and decision making. He wants us to pray and seek His kingdom first. Then, all these things [blessings] will be given to you as well.

His plans are best. So, is God in charge of your planning committee? If not, maybe it’s time to promote Him to the position.
