The Best Advice

“Where there is strife, there is pride, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.” ~ Proverbs 13:10

I wouldn’t do that if I were you.

As children, most of us probably heard that sentence hundreds of times growing up. And again, as children, most of us probably disregarded that suggestion more times than we could possibly remember. Some of us may even have scars that remind us of the consequences of ignoring sound advice. Come to think of it, I have a scar on the inside of my right arm that reminds me precisely why I should’ve listened more carefully to my mother’s warnings about how dangerous pocket knives can be. That scar is 40 years old, but it’s still there, plain as day, all these years later.

Not all advice, however, is of the good sort. No matter how well-intended it may seem at the time, some advice can do far more harm than good in the long run.

Friend, God will meet every need we have in life if we simply ask for His help and direction. He will surround us with people who we can trust and rely on to give us good advice, no matter the circumstance, no matter the need. In fact, not only does He already know every need you will have in the future, but He’s already at work sorting out all of the details and putting those people in our paths when our time of need comes.

Whether it’s a leaky roof needing to be patched or an arthritic hip that needs replacing, God will make a way for us. All that is required of us is to pray, remain patient, and trust in Him to provide everything we need.
